Insurance
I am currently in-network with Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and United Healthcare.
If you have one of the insurances listed above, your out-of-pocket cost will be based on your insurance plan. While many healthcare plans offer nutrition counseling at no cost as a preventive service, some plans may have require a copay or that you pay your deductible or a co-share percentage. This varies from plan to plan.
I’m happy to look into your plan benefits. This is usually best if an appointment is scheduled 3-7 business days in advance to allow for ample time to contact your insurance company (and possibly sitting on hold for a while).
If you do have a copay, that is due at the time of service. Co-insurance/co-share percentages will be deducted once the claim has been processed through your insurance.
Please note that any information I receive during communication with your insurance company to verify benefits is only a QUOTE and not a guarantee of benefits or coverage. I will always get a reference number, but I know only as much as the representative tells me. If they misquote benefits, please know that it is ultimately your responsibility to ensure that your account is settled. (I’m happy to discuss payment plans as needed.)
A note about Medicare: Because I am in-network with Aetna and United Healthcare, I may be in-network with Medicare plans that are hosted through those companies. I am not a traditional Medicare provider. That being said, Medicare, including plans through Aetna and United Healthcare, generally only covers nutrition counseling for type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease. If you are using a Medicare plan and do not have one of these conditions, it’s likely that your insurance will not cover nutrition counseling.
Non-Insurance or Cash Pay
If your insurance company is not one of those listed above, I am happy to provide you with a super-bill that you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network services and they may reimburse you.
If you’d rather not use insurance at all or if your insurance plan doesn’t cover nutrition counseling services, I offer cash pay appointments. These can be a la carte or purchased in discounted packages.
